Yesterday was the Festivus Games. I went to the event being held at Crossfit Inclusive and had a blast with the other 11 competitors from my box.
The first two WODs were back to back: 1000m row for time (6 min time cap) and a 1rm clean (6 min time cap).
Third WOD was an 8 min AMRAP of 10 KBS, 20 sit ups, and 30 box overs.
Last WOD was 2 min max effort wall balls, rest 1 min, 2 min max effort DUs, rest one minute, 2 minutes max effort burpees.
Obviously, WODs 1 and 2 were what I cared about as I am shitty at everything (other than KBS) involved in WODs 3 and 4.
The last time I did a 1000m row for time I finished in about 3:50. Nothing to be overjoyed about but still a decent time. My goal for Festivus was to be under 3:45.
3:31.00 BITCHES. I took 4th place NATIONALLY in my division of womens intermediate on this WOD. I was so. fucking. happy. And my judge was literally flipping a shit - he couldn’t believe I did it. I ended up with a 145# clean which is a PR match for me. I ALMOST had 155 like 4 times but I just couldn’t drop to catch the bar.
I had 198 reps for WOD 3 which meant I got through 3 rounds + 10 KBS + 8 sit ups. I thought I would at least get through the sit ups but alas, the box overs ruined me.
For WOD 4 I got 47 walls balls, 38 double unders, and 22 burpees. My goal was 50 wall balls so I was close, I wanted 50 DUs but they did NOT show up, and my goal was 20 burpees so I slightly beat that!
By the end of the day, I was 20th in my division for the location I was at (out of 56) and 393th out of 993 for the nation. I’m absolutely okay with that. I was really sad that I missed out on the finalist WOD because it was RIGHT up my alley. It would have been with a 65# barbell - 30 back squats, 30 deadlifts, and 30 thrusters. Shit would have been my jam, yo.
First and second place for my division were taken by girls from my gym and they were both in the top 100 nationally. Pretty damn impressive. Plus for female beginners a girl from my gym took first at our location and 2nd NATIONALLY which is phenomenal. Then another guy from our gym took 2nd in mens beginner at our location.
All around, our gym showed up and represented. #boomroasted
Can’t wait to hopefully get my endurance up to where it needs to be in the next few months. I signed up for another comp on June 14th… because I’m a glutton for punishment, obvi. ;)
